On September 27th, San Dimas Community Hospital presented the Daisy award to Yessica Cervantes, a

Nurse with certificate

Registered Nurse, for her compassion and gentle nursing care.

The Daisy Award is a recognition program that was founded in January, 2000 as a way to say "thank you" to nurses for the extraordinary jobs they do every day. A nurse may be nominated by peers, physicians, patients and families. Also, all of the nurses and staff in the recipient's unit are given Cinnabon cinnamon rolls that are donated by Cinnabon. Why, you might ask? The sweet aroma of Cinnabon is a reminder how special nurses are and to not take for granted the things they do for their patients.

Yessica Cervantes received her nursing degree from Santa Ana College in June of 2010. She joined San Dimas Community Hospital in June of 2011 and has been a wonderful addition to the family. "I work well as part of a team, communicate well, and have excellent attention to detail. As a highly motivated professional, I strive to offer the best customer service to patients and their families and always ensure safe practice," says Yessica. That proved to be a refreshing bit of truth! She was nominated by a patient as well as her director who received many comments from patients and staff for her extraordinary nursing care. San Dimas Community Hospital wants to say a big thank you to Yessica for her quiet strength and contribution to the great care given in the Med-Surg unit.
