San Dimas, CA, Nov. 11, 2014 – San Dimas Community Hospital announces the arrival and installation of the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. This is the newest system, replacing the da Vinci Si with the latest technology in robotic surgery and a minimally invasive approach.

This new addition to the center officially began its duties on October 26th, 2014 in a surgery performed by Dr. Williams. San Dimas Community Hospital is pleased to continue providing patients with the most advanced surgical equipment on the market. The da Vinci Robot provides surgeons with the ability to operate using minimally invasive, minute incisions, and is known to cause patients less pain and result in shorter hospital stays and faster recovery time.

"We're very excited at San Dimas Community Hospital to offer cutting edge medicine as a top 100 hospital," says Edward Mirzabegian, Regional Chief Executive Officer of Prime Healthcare Management. "The da Vinci Xi system builds upon its predecessor, allowing physicians to operate in a minimally invasive manner and resulting in decreased recovery time. We look forward to continuing to provide the latest technology and treatments to our patients and community."

The da Vinci Xi System expands upon core da Vinci System features, including wristed instruments, 3D-HD visualization, intuitive motion, and an ergonomic design. The da Vinci Systems provide doctors with superior vision and allows the surgeon to control laparoscopic arms which result in increased precision, dexterity and improved access. It has achieved positive results in urologic, cardiovascular, vascular, gynecologic surgery and more. New key features include a new overhead instrument arm architecture designed to facilitate anatomical access from virtually any position, a new endoscope digital architecture that is more compact and offers improved visual definition and clarity, more flexibility, smaller thinner arms with greater range of motion, and longer instrument shafts designed to give surgeons greater operative reach.
