San Dimas Community Hospital Nationally Recognized with an ‘A’ Grade for Hospital Safety by The Leapfrog Group for the Sixth Consecutive Time

San Dimas, Calif., May 10, 2021 San Dimas Community Hospital a member of Prime Healthcare, received an “A” grade in the spring 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing San Dimas Community Hospital’s achievements protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.

San Dimas Community Hospital has been continuously recognized by The Leapfrog Group with an ‘A’ grade for hospital safety six times consecutively since 2018.

“An ‘A’ safety grade is an elite designation that your community should be proud of,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “The past year has been extraordinarily difficult for hospitals, but San Dimas Community Hospital shows us it is possible to keep a laser focus on patients and their safety, no matter what it takes.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to all general hospitals across the country and is updated every six months. It is the only hospital ratings program based exclusively on hospitals’ prevention of medical errors and other harms to patients in their care.

“Our ongoing pledge to keep our patients’ healthy and safe during COVID-19 is evidenced by our sixth consecutive biannual ‘A’ grade from Leapfrog,” said Parrish Scarboro, Chief Executive Officer of San Dimas Community Hospital. “I am proud of our team of doctors, nurses, health professionals, administrators, and support staff for continuously prioritizing high-quality care to ensure the San Dimas community thrives during such unprecedented times.”

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,700 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.

"During a time when we recognize the heroes in our hospitals as they battle a pandemic, and now are providing a life-changing vaccine, we are honored to commend our dedicated staff and physicians for achieving this recognition," said Sunny Bhatia, MD, Chief Medical Officer of Prime Healthcare. "Putting patients and their safety first has and always will be a top priority at Prime Healthcare, and it has never been more important than it is today."

San Dimas Community Hospital was awarded an “A” for the sixth consecutive time when Leapfrog updated grades for spring 2021.
